The official blog for the Ink and Paper House of tennyoceres. Mizu Mikado is a (very silly) Japanese wordplay on part of my Etsy shop name. Ink, or sumi (すみ) becomes mizu (みず). Paper, or kami (かみ) becomes the basis of mikado (みかど). The literal translation is even sillier. It goes from ink and paper (炭と紙) to water emperor (水帝).

Weekly Calligraphy: Brush (Fude)
[[Argh I'm late for this one but the weather was just nice enough the other day to finally use my camera.]]
Brush - 筆 (ふで pronounced 'foo-deh')
The Chinese writing system, and in turn the Korean and Japanese writing systems, used the brush as both a writing tool and a means of artistic expression. In my calligraphy reference book I found a wonderful interpretation of the character. Nearly every basic stroke form that you would learn with an instructor was shown here. I couldn't pass up the chance to try it out.
