Party All the Time

Still trying to recover from the weekend festivities, folks. My sister and her family moved back up to the Bay Area. After a little coaxing from my mom, I made a 'Welcome Home' banner to greet my sister, brother-in-law, and niece. I made it with some card stock, paint, punched-out shapes of butterflies, my flower hole puncher, ribbon, and a geranium I pressed myself.

On a side note: I have been pressing a lot of flowers lately. Thanks to the magic of the Microfleur and my microwave. Takes a little while to adjust each flower press batch so everything dries flat and even. The first 5 tries had burned bits and warped centers that made me quite unhappy. I've been stockpiling uniquely colored rose petals for another massive project. I need to gauge how well the dried flowers do in my paper making as well. But that would be another time and another blog post.

On the same day, we also celebrated my nephew's 13th birthday. He's no longer a big boy, but a young man. Well, maybe he can still be a boy in my heart. Look at him eating away at that cake. Like it's going to melt in his hands or something.

My niece, however, does not seem to be pleased by the idea of being photographed while eating delicious chocolate cake on a plate bigger than her head. She thinks it's her birthday party. That's fine I still love her, even if she does give me these funny looks.

Family time and---WTF?

My goddaughter came over and requested in such a cute voice to make some paper. I was happy to oblige.

Her two little sheets are currently drying. While she was playing with her brother I realized that she took a good chunk of colored scrap I was planning to use for a new batch of Chagami.

But that's all spilt milk and I guess my grand plan will have to wait for a bit.

In the meantime, I have finally responded to the Etsy Chat Team call for a Halloween themed piece. This kooky guy is called Chouchinobake, a paper lantern monster with a long tongue.

Crawling into Trouble

My goddaughter and her brother are finally out of my hair after spending the weekend with them during the 4th of July holiday. In their place will be my adorable niece. At 7th months old she has the crawling thing down. Her family is going to spend part of the week with me before they go further north for another camping trip. Looks like I have to hide all of my crafting stuff all over again. I would leave her a pile of paper to have her tear apart for me, but she'll more likely try to eat it.

Juggling it all

My goddaughter and her brother are staying over for the week so that we can all do a trip up to Lodi, CA for a huge 4th of July celebration. So besides trying to get orders shipped out, making new inventory, and keeping my day job I now have two kids (with their parents thankfully) to also entertain. No rest for the wicked.

On the upside my goddaughter has taken an interest to my paper making. I let her make a few sheets of paper and she's excited to see how they'll turn out once they dry.
